SES is deepening its relationship with Relativity Space with a multi-year, multi-launch services agreement announced Wednesday.

The agreement includes multiple launches aboard Terran R, Relativity Space’s medium-to-heavy-lift, reusable launch vehicle in development. The companies said this is an expanded agreement that includes previously unannounced SES launches. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Relativity Space says the first launch of the Terran R vehicle is planned for late 2026 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. In 2023, the company shifted its strategy away from the Terran 1 rocket after a partially successful first flight of Terran 1 to focus on Terran R.

“Broad access to orbit enables the breakthroughs that will shape our future. From global connectivity to scientific discovery, these launches with SES represent part of a larger effort to drive innovation and push the boundaries of the possible,” Eric Schmidt, CEO of Relativity Space, said in a statement.

Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, took the helm at Relativity Space in March after buying a controlling stake in the company.

Intelsat, now part of SES, had an existing multi-launch agreement with Relativity Space signed in 2023.
